Old Orchard Beach has everything and more that you would expect from a beautiful seaside resort town. Starting with the seven-mile wide sandy beach where you can swim, play or jog in the surf, build sandcastles or simply lie back and feel the warmth of the sand as it runs through your fingers. The pier that extends over 500 feet into the ocean is a center of activity in Old Orchard Beach. There are arcade games, amusement rides, entertainment, food, shops, free concerts and weekly fireworks from the pier in the summertime. There are over 4,000 campsites in the Old Orchard Beach area, some within walking distance to the ocean, others that offer full services and more privacy. Besides the beach activities, you will find many other things to do in Old Orchard Beach such as miniature golf, hiking, horseback riding, biking, boating and fishing, parasailing, wind surfing and kayaking. Charter boat rentals are available, as lobster boat tours, whale watching tours, and canoe trips through the Scarborough Marsh Nature Center. And if you are in the mood for a road trip, a short drive takes you to some of Maine’s oldest and most scenic lighthouses.
